The Pydnetta is a small violet flower with an shallow root system that sprawls across the sodden earth. During the frequent storms of the region, it swells into a bulbous sac rich in water and nutrients. After heavy seasonal rainstorms, the sac bursts, releasing a mild hallucinogenic mist into the air—what locals now call the Laughing Bloom, in honor of Zedancial.
The Laughing Bloom affects more than just travelers. Wildlife exposed to it often experiences brief periods of accelerated growth or unusual behavior, the reasons for which remain poorly understood.
Because the Pydnetta absorbs so much groundwater, flood conditions are mitigated, extending the window for agriculture between wet seasons. This has made once unproductive terrain efficient and inviting.
