A terrifying Yehr where the sun was slowly eclipsed by Neton. The total eclipse happened during the Kamerad of Halionde. For six full Daes, the moon hung eerily still in front of the sun casting the world into an unnatural twilight that pulsed with shadowy energy. The eclipse was no ordinary celestial event, Neton appeared to have turned obsidian black, its surface rippling like liquid stone, giving the eclipse its ominous name.

The Neton Schism

The eclipse created an unprecedented crisis within the faithful. Netandites interpreted the event as a divine sign that Netandiel was asserting dominance over the other celestials, preparing to ferry all souls to their final judgement. They proclaimed it The Great Passage and performed massed funeral rites for the living, believing death would soon claim all.

Tokonites, however, saw something different. To them, the obsidian moon was Tokon’s manifestation. A binding chain cast across the heavens to prevent Netandiel from claiming souls prematurely. They claimed it as The Divine Torment, a test of perseverance where this dark suffering would grant strength to those who made it through to the next daylight.

This fundamental disagreement led to violent theological conflicts. In The Chapter District in Diveneu, the streets were washed with religious blood as these faiths turned to killing the unbelievers. The Solam Bells, usually ringing in harmony, created a discordant chaos as Netandites and Tokonites bell-ringers refused to synchronize their prayers.

Other religious orders were also affected, The Alavandories found their philosophy changed as traditional warfare became nearly impossible in the perpetual twilight. The Zedancial’s worshipers found their fey magic wildly unpredictable, with spells transformed into more sinister versions. Vordekaes, unable to perform their dawn-based rituals questioned their faith entirely. Eiselken’s worshipers found a unique peace during this time, as the eternal twilight resembled their beloved winters.

The Cleansing

On Alvdae of the next Wox. The obsidian appeared to crack and shatter, witnesses described Neton cracking like glass, with brilliant light pouring through the fissures before the moon returned to its former rocky self once again. Its position returned to normal orbit, leaving only the civilizations own turmoil as an affliction on the world.

Tokonites developed new theology around Celestial Binding. Believing they could influence the divine by studying the stars and performing complicated rituals to sway the movement of the stars.

Netandites began practicing Eclipse Vigils, preparing for future divine messages that might delay or accelerate the afterlife journey. Claiming they reacted hastily to the signal from Neton and misinterpreted the event to be an acceleration to the afterlife, when in reality with more understanding they realized it was a sign of delay to the afterlife.

The Crested Families shifted slightly, modifying The Diveneu Council to no longer include religious seats for leaders of The Panath so that they might not gain too much autonomous power. The Council also established that despite religious differences, the importance of Solam Bells as time keeping devices is more important, and for their ringing to be coordinated by a secular timekeeper, who would coordinate with The Panath leaders.
